A word from the 2021/22 Social Sec, Archie Bates:
Hey Lads, I’m Archie, your new Social Secretary. Hoping to see a few fast pints drunk and a few good laughs had this year and I’m hoping I can help provide that. My plans this year, similar to every year, is to run “Circle” every Wednesday, accompanied by another social every week such as a Bar Crawl, house party or something similar. With large events planned such as Cricket Ball towards the end of Term 1 (a black-tie event with the Women’s club) and Sports Ball (an event shared between all the sports clubs at the Uni) we’re in for a great year. Also, for those who aren’t a fan of the old amber there will be quite a few sober socials held throughout the year. There is also no judgement to lads who don’t drink at our normal socials as a lot of the time they end up offering more value to the night!
Every Wednesday UWMCC holds a ‘circle’ in upstairs Copper Rooms which entails three hours of discounted pre-drinking alongside other sports clubs, leading into POP!, the most popular event run by the SU. Circles are exclusive to Warwick and a fantastic opportunity to meet other clubmen, often acting as a talking point for the rest of the week and after not missing one at all last year, I can’t recommend attending enough! Many a circle has been completed on non-alcoholic drinks and socials certainly aren’t centred around drinking.
Alongside circles, we hold a variety of other socials throughout the year which have included:
- 10-pin bowling
- Bongo Bingo
- Days out at Edgbaston
- Termly club meal
- Poker nights
- Mixed socials with other societies
- Golf days
- Club adoptions in term 3
Term 1 Social Calendar – We encourage all to attend as many events as possible as UWMCC has become a staple part of many university experiences.
For any extra details with regards to the social side of the UWMCC keep an eye on the club’s Facebook and Twitter which will be regularly updated with regards to social events.
