UWMCCFC v WSS, 27/11/2021

MATCH REPORT: UWMCCFC 0-0 WSS

As interim captain, I have unfortunately also taken over match report duty. You’ll be pleased to know this one should be considerably shorter than the others.

With no consideration of the new UWMCC values, half the team was late and our start unfortunately was delayed (strike 1). When we did get underway, neither team really established themselves in the game and with windy conditions making life difficult, no clear chances were created by either team. As the game went on though, Jack Feather and Cooper Smith did begin to find space and we looked the more likely team to break the deadlock. The closest we came was when some neat footwork allowed Cooper to find some room and have a shot that just cleared the bar. Jack then got in behind from a long throw, but his header was well-held by the keeper. HT 0-0

Some fresh legs in the 2nd half meant we started strong and again looked far more likely to score. The introduction of Tom Dallmeyer in midfield gave us some much needed energy, and with Henry Wilson and Sam Barlow working tirelessly up front, we were able to get a foothold in the game. Plenty of good chances then followed, including a spectacular half-volley from Tom that needed a goal-line clearance to stop it flying in, but unfortunately we showed all the composure of Dan Tennant on a bar-crawl and had no end product for all of our good build up play. A late free-kick, well held by Harry Rogers, was the only time WSS asked any questions of our defence who were solid all game. FT 0-0

A hard-fought game that we will be disappointed to not get 3 points from. But like Tanmay Desai and performance squad, it wasn’t meant to be.

Cheers Ben x (Fantasy football visionary, Would take the big offer on the chase, Elegant)
