A word from the 2018/19 Social Sec, Owen McCausland:
After joining UWMCC in 2017, I have enjoyed being part of one of the best sporting and social clubs on campus and I can’t express the extent to which it has shaped my time at Warwick. Club Socials are a fantastic way to integrate yourself into one of the most friendly and welcoming clubs here at the university. I am sure that this year as with every year our exciting social calendar will offer something for everyone. From weekly pre-drinks and class nights out, to bowling trips and live sport socials the club truly is best placed to offer everyone a cracking social life at uni. The cherry on top of the social scene at UWMCC undoubtedly being Cricket Ball in term 1 an excellent opportunity to get a banging Instagram post, have a good night with both UWMCC and UWWCC club members and meet a cricketing legend. Last year Ryan Sidebottom came down to see us and I’m sure we’ll have another high calibre guest this year.
I hope to see loads of fresh faces at our first few socials next year!
Every Wednesday UWMCC holds a ‘circle’ in upstairs Copper Rooms which entails three hours of discounted pre-drinking alongside other sports clubs, leading into POP!, the most popular event run by the SU. Circles are exclusive to Warwick and a fantastic opportunity to meet other clubmen, often acting as a talking point for the rest of the week and after not missing one at all last year, I can’t recommend attending enough! Many a circle has been completed on non-alcoholic drinks and socials certainly aren’t centred around drinking.
Alongside circles, we hold a variety of other socials throughout the year which have included:
- 10-pin bowling
- Bongo Bingo
- Days out at Edgbaston
- Termly club meal
- Poker nights
- Mixed socials with other societies
- Golf days
- Club adoptions in term 3
Term 1 Social Calendar – We encourage all to attend as many events as possible as UWMCC has become a staple part of many university experiences.
